An Autumn Equinox celebration is not only about honoring the beauty of the Autumn season though, it’s also about observing reaching the exact Equinox point where we experience a balance between day and night on the planet.
This point of balance creates openings to the zero point field and infinite potential. It's a powerful time to center and replenish your energy, and to energize your intentions for the highest divine possibilities.

What Is The Autumnal Equinox?
The Autumnal Equinox is the time of the year where the Wheel of the Year Cycle is turning away from Summer and towards Winter. It is exactly opposite from the Spring Equinox in the Wheel of the Year.
The day of the Equinox brings a very close if not precise balance between light and day. Soon though, the hours of daylight will become even shorter, and depending on where in the world you are, you may already be able to notice Mother Earth breathing in the etheric and astral forces that manifest as growth and plant life in the Spring and Summer months. These forces are drawn inward in the Fall in preparation for the cold and dark of Winter.
The Autumn Equinox is the second of three harvest festivals and much of the focus of our ancient ancestors around this time would have been on bringing in the harvest and making preparations for Winter.
We too can now gain great benefit by preparing for Winter ourselves, which is a time where we can utilize the dark and quiet months to spiritual journey inward where we can find warmth and illumination within.

Celebrate Fall Equinox
Luckily, one of the most powerful ways to prepare for the coming Winter months is to fully embrace the Fall season that begins now.
What do you love and appreciate about Autumn? This is such a powerful and magical time of year. Tune into it!
What is special about the Fall Equinox for you?
Whether you love the cool crisp scent of Autumn in the air, or cozying up with a blanket, and a warm mug of pumpkin spiced tea next to the first indoor fire of the season…
The splashes of gold and orange as trees change the color of their leaves are absolutely stunning this time of year, or perhaps it's the crisp crunching sounds of leaves beneath your feet that really lights up your heart.
Let’s not forget about all the delicious produce of the season! This is the time of a harvest after all and some incredible seasonal produce like apples, pears, plums, pomegranates, squash, pumpkins, beets, blackberries, cucumbers, tomatoes, mushrooms, and one of my very favorites… Green chile all become freshly available!
Whatever you love most about Autumn, and whatever is special about the season in your local area. Weave that into your celebration as a way of reconnecting with Nature’s rhythm where you are!
Here are some ideas to get your imagination going while you plan your Autumn Equinox Celebration!
Ways to Celebrate Fall Equinox
Make An “Autumn Inspiration” Crystal Grid
As we observe the decline of nature there is a counterbalancing force and opportunity for humanity that opens to move inward and awaken soul forces.
Gather some crystals, stones, and autumn leaves to consciously tap into the powerful spiritual awakening and soul development potential that Autumn can bring with an Autumn Inspired Crystal Grid.

Autumn Reflection
The Autumn Equinox is the time of harvesting the fruits of our summer labors as Summer now officially ends and Autumn begins.
For our ancient ancestors this literally meant harvesting the crops that would sustain them through the winter.
But even for us today, in a world where fresh food is available year round in our grocery stores… There’s great benefit in honoring this harvest time of transition.
Autumn is the time of year that we spiritually and energetically create space for what can be grown and created next year.
Just as our ancestors would have prepared for the winter, and started planning on what to plant in the Spring to come, we can greatly benefit now in setting up our inner space, and making room for what we truly want to create in our lives.
This is a good time to get clear and check in with yourself about where you are now, how you’ve grown this past season, and where you’re now heading.
What seeds of intention and action did you plant in the Spring? How have these intentions, projects and goals come to fruition in your life?
How have they not?
Are you experiencing a bountiful and abundant harvest on this Equinox?
Are you experiencing the results of not adequately nurturing seeds you planted?
Or are you learning now that you planted seeds in poor soil?
Consider how you can better nurture and support your dreams and goals moving forward as you now refocus on what you truly value and desire to create and experience in your life now.
Equinox Meditation
One of the biggest things to be aware of with the energy of the Equinox is that it has the incredible effect of balancing polarity in the physical dimension.
This balance between day and night, masculine and feminine, outer manifestation and inner being-ness creates a profound opening to the higher realms of Spirit.
The Equinox is a time in which the veil between worlds is thin.
With awareness the Equinox energy can be a perfectly timed acceleration point in your personal ascension process…
On and around the Equinox, we as individuals, and collectively as humanity, have an open doorway to anchor a new paradigm of higher vibrational life into our present time and personal experience.
It’s the perfect time to meditate, and claim the blessings available right here and now!

Tune Into The Magic of Apples
Right around the Autumn Equinox, apples are ripe on the tree. Our ancient ancestors would have celebrated the apple harvest around this time, and taken steps to preserve and store apples to nourish them throughout the cold winter months.
Although apples are now available to us year round, there is something special about really tuning into their energy and wisdom in their natural season.
Apples have a fantastic magical lore with deep connections to wisdom and magic. Have you ever noticed that when you cut an apple in half (horizontally across the middle) it reveals a 5 pointed star?
The five pointed star represents the 5 elements: earth, air, fire, water, and ether. Bringing the elements into harmony and equilibrium within yourself has a powerful effect on wellbeing, vitality, and spiritual growth.
In his book, Life-Changing Foods, Anthony William shares that: “Apple is an ancient food that brings us back to the source. It is one of the very first foods that comforted us, and so apples connect us to a sense of sanctuary.”
Visit An Apple Orchard
Freshly picked apples are truly worth the effort seeking them out. They’re often like a different fruit when compared to purchasing a store bought variety. Plus, visiting an Apple Orchard is a lovely outing, and picking fruit from a tree a powerfully grounding meditation.
Of course, you can always buy fresh apples at your local farmers market, or even the grocery store if that’s your only option. Buy the freshest, most local, and crispest apples available and then… Enjoy!
Slice an apple – and really take your time eating it – savor the sweet taste and crisp crunchy texture, as you reflect on the forces of life, and the role all 5 of the elements played in nurturing and sustaining the growth of that very apple… Which now helps to nourish and sustain you.
Apple Slices with Caramel Dip
For an extra treat, this “caramel” date dip is the perfect way to make a healthy and high-vibrational variation of a caramel apple.
Blend soft dates (I like to use the food processor) with a little water until they make a paste. You’ll likely need to keep scraping the sides of your food processor to do this. Mix in a small pinch of sea salt and a dash of cinnamon.
- 6 large pitted dates (soaked for a few hours if not very soft)
- The tiniest pinch of sea salt
- A sprinkle of cinnamon if you like.
- Warm water to thin.
Spoon the caramel dip into a small bowl, serve with freshly sliced apples, and enjoy!
Walk In Nature
Autumn is one of my favorite times of year to hike in nature. The mornings are cool and crisp with a chill in the air, which means late afternoons are once again lovely to be outdoors and moving around. Not to mention the many beautiful signs, sounds and scents this season brings!
Celebrate the Equinox by going for a walk or hike in nature, relishing in the season and mindfully observing the colors, scents, and textures of the natural world around you.
Feel your connection with the natural world and tune into gratitude and appreciation you as you enjoy reflecting on the waning external warmth of the Autumn season which gives rise to an inner cultivation of warmth and awakening within you
Have A Harvest Feast!
The Autumn Equinox is the second of three Harvest festivals in the year. It's the perfect time to gather with friends and family (or just celebrate by yourself) to honor the abundance of the season with a fresh, local and delicious harvest feast!
Prepare a harvest meal using ingredients from your garden or local farmers market… Or just choose to cook with in season produce like squash, beets, potatoes, tomatoes, mushrooms, chiles, acorns, pine nuts, apples, pears, grapes, etc.
I personally grew a ton of delicata squash this season (which I’m soooo excited about) so I’ll be making this delicious Delicata Squash Bake with Tahini Sauce for my Equinox feast!
What sounds delicious, comforting and warm to ring in the Autumn season? My mind goes to things like Veggie Stews and Hearty Chili, roasted squash and fresh baked gluten free bread.
Then for desert why not something with apples?
Show Your Gratitude for the Earth
The Autumn Equinox is a wonderful time to practice gratitude for all the many blessings in your life, including the Earth!
You can of course tune into gratitude by writing out the many things you’re thankful for. You could perform a simple gratitude ritual by lighting a candle and honoring the forces of light in your life. Or go on a “rampage of appreciation”…
But why not take your gratitude a step further by taking a meaningful action to anchor your gratitude for the Earth into the physical?
Show gratitude for the Earth and the forces of life by planting a tree or shrub that’s native to your area (Autumn is one of the best times to plant trees).
How else can you show your love and appreciation for the earth? Get creative and work with your current circumstances…
This could be things like:
- Clean up trash in a natural place near where you live.
- Start to prepare an area of your yard so you can cultivate a garden next Spring or sign up for a slot in a Community Garden.
- Donate gently used items you no longer need to benefit those who are less fortunate.
- Start composting or take steps to reduce the amount of waste you create.
- Research wildflowers and plants that are native to your area, and obtain or plant them now (depending on the plant and where you are).
- Put out some birdseed to feed the birds as a small gesture of gratitude.
- Find a local CSA to join now (if they have a Winter Season) or in the Spring.
- Go for a walk in nature being fully present and truly appreciating the life and beauty of nature around you.
Dive Into Spiritual Study
While in Autumn the external world around begins to wither, there is a simultaneous awakening of the elemental forces within the earth responsible for much of the activity that brings about the changing of the seasons.
There’s also a strong force of awakening awareness within humanity.
This is not just a powerful “back to school” time for kids, it's also a good time for us as adults to consider how we are supporting our own continued growth and learning.
What are you reading that’s inspiring your growth and spiritual connection?
What course of study are you initiating now that will prepare you for the next cycles of powerful growth and creation in the coming Spring?
Cleanse and Balance The Energy In Your Home
Because the Equinox is a time of equal day and equal night, and because we’re now making preparations for the coming Winter…
Now is the perfect time to consciously cultivate balance and harmony in your home.
We know about Spring Cleaning… But really Fall cleaning is so powerful to do as well!
Cleanse and refresh the energy of your home to prepare for the Winter months where you’ll likely be spending more of your time inside.
Start by cleaning up your space and clearing out the clutter! Get rid or anything you no longer use, love or need to create space so that new blessings flow through to you… Donate what you’re ready to let go of to celebrate your abundance, and to benefit others!
Then, call in the light and your team in Spirit to cleanse and uplift the energy of your space! Go through your home smudging, or burning a sacred cleansing incense to cleanse out old energy.
Check out my House Cleansing Prayer here!
Once you’ve cleansed the energy, go through your home observing the energy flow.
Which rooms do you feel good in, and which ones feel like the energy is out of balance or blocked in some way?
What can you do to shift the energy? Is there something you need to move or get rid of?
Would it benefit from adding a colorful accent, plant or crystal?
How can you bring in some of the colors of nature to celebrate the Fall?
Sometimes something as simple as playing uplifting music in a space can really balance and uplift the energy of your space too. I love playing Carlos Nakai, Sol Rising, Buddhatude, or Baroque music throughout the day to keep tranquil, peaceful vibes flowing throughout my home.
Happy Equinox!
